What We Do

We support initiatives that sustain and improve our shared quality of life here in Lunenburg County through research, granting funds and partnerships.
Our perspective is County-wide, targeting initiatives that will improve the lives of current and future residents. We do this through a charitable model in partnership with the Community Foundation of Nova Scotia.

Our work requires many hands. We engage a broad base of community stakeholders to help fulfill our mission in an effective and sustainable manner.
We cannot achieve our goals alone.

VITAL SIGNS
The LCCF funded two VITAL SIGNS of Lunenburg County reports (2010 and 2013). The
reports use local knowledge to measure the vitality of the community, gather data and spark conversation about significant social and economic trends.  The report tells the story of how the community is faring in key quality of life areas.  Existing data from federal and provincial governments, local municipal information and data from no government agencies provide the basis for the report.  The documents are intended to be readable and clear for the average citizen.
The Vital Sign reports provide the Board of Directors with a clear picture of the needs in the community and the issues that are important to Lunenburg County.

The LAHAVE RIVER Clean-Up

Through the generosity of a resident of Lunenburg County $1million was provided to the cleanup of the straight pipes emptying into the Lahave River. The donation was contributed to the LCCF and through our mandate, representatives of the fund worked with the municipal government to finalize an agreement that recognized the intentions of the donor.

Currently an estimated 600 homes discharge untreated sewage into the river. In 2017 the District of Lunenburg secured the necessary funding from all levels of government to start the project in late 2017.  The project will take 7 years to complete with an estimated cost of just over $17 million.
